Following a fantastic show at the Moonshine Museum last year we are delighted to welcome back the Unsung Heroes. The troupe includes some notable people: Peter Elliott (narrator), is a film and theatre actor who has featured in over 60 television dramas; Cameron Bennett (vocals, dobro guitar), is a musician and well known TVNZ presenter; Chris Priestley (vocals, guitar), is a highly respected Auckland musician and co-founder of Real Groovy Records; Sonia Wilson (vocals), is a singer and multi-instrumentalist with wide international experience; and Nigel Gavin (7 string guitar), is a multi-award-winning guitarist who has played with Nairobi Trio, Jews Brothers, and Robert Fripp amongst others. The Unsung Heroes tell stories from New Zealand’s settler past in finely crafted theatre, music, and song, with old newspaper articles and poems that deftly introduce each song’s central character. A photographic slideshow of historic images as accompaniment, with gorgeously evocative music and words, sharp timing, and dry humour, all predictive of ways we have come to see ourselves. The group have performed at concerts and folk festivals around the country where they have been enthusiastically received.

Come and be transported.
