Closing the Gaps

In the Gore District we are all about supporting our young people fulfil their potential.

One of the pathways is through employment. To enable young people and businesses we have teamed up with the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs for our Closing the Gaps programme.

Closing the Gaps supports employers and job seekers in the Gore District by placing people in sustainable, full-time paid work for 30+ hours a week.

It helps young people aged 16-24 get sustainable employment and people of any age who've been displaced by COVID or are impacted by health or disability challenges. We can also support people of any age who are disadvantaged in the labour market and are not readily able to access MSD products and services.

And businesses can access funding to support hiring a new staff member.

We also provide employees with pastoral care to support them when starting out in their new career and this has facilitated the retention of young people in the district.
