The Eastern Southland Gallery has combined with Invercargill Public Art Gallery to present the collaborative exhibition Southland Treasures from the Age of Rodin.
The exhibition complements Remembering Rodin, a new touring exhibition from Te Papa, showcasing New Zealand’s most significant Rodin sculpture, Eve (1882).
Southland Treasures from the Age of Rodin features paintings and prints from the collections of both Galleries, all within the timeframe of Rodin’s professional career (1860 to 1917).
Several of the paintings included in this exhibition have been selected from two institutional gifts, the Kathleen Kirby Collection to Invercargill Public Art Gallery and the Zona Crombie Bequest to the Eastern Southland Gallery. As well as a selection of portraits, the exhibition features landscapes and a number of townscapes.
