Helen Webby - PLUCKBy: Eastern Southland Gallery
09-Sep-2018, 9:00 PM Eastern Southland Gallery, Gore $25 Adults, $20 Gallery members, $10 Students
Helen Webby is Principal Harp with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and is one of New Zealand's foremost and accomplished harpists.
She has performed in Gore on a number of occasions. On this tour Helen’s dancing fingers will pluck her harp, and tug your heartstrings, in a magical night of music.
Performing on two different harps - a concert grand and the carbon-fibre Irish harp, she will present an intimate world tour of music from Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Bach and the Baroque, to Paris and La Belle Epoque.
This concert will showcase Helen’s latest CD Pluck, with NZ composers Douglas Lilburn, Mark Smythe and Ruru Karaitiana.
Commissioned after the Christchurch Earthquakes, Pluck was nominated for Best Classical CD in the 2013 NZ Music Awards.
Pluck was also the soundtrack for the film Harps Make Fine Companions, which recently screened on Television New Zealand.
