The Gore district is well serviced by a vibrant education sector. Within the area there are a total of 11 primary schools, one intermediate school and two secondary schools.

 Gore High School  is a year 9-13 co-educational, multi-course school. St Peters College is a catholic co-educational year 7-13 school and offers boarding facilities. Both schools offer tuition for international students.

Longford Intermediate is now the only intermediate school in Southland.The primary schools of the area range from West Gore School, the largest primary school in Eastern Southland to several small one and two teacher schools such as Otama School situated on the outskirts of Gore in a rural area.

The Southern Institute of Technology Gore campus offers courses based on local demand and includes a range of programmes from hospitality to computing, Building and construction and art for leisure.

It offers a range of part time or full time study options designed to ensure they fit with your lifestyle, with flexible learning times and modern facilities.

The main campus in Invercargill is only 45 minutes' drive from Gore.



The Gore District boasts a range of early childhood educational options from kindergartens to play centres and rural playgroups. 

Within Gore, the Gore Kids Hub is a fantastic facility combining the Gore Toy Library, Gore Play Centre and Gore Parents Centre.
